Arden Cabaret Series Presents Tell Me A Story: ‘Tis The Season Curated by Hillary Rea and Featuring Arden Favorite Artists
Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10 at 8pm
(Philadelphia, PA) Arden Cabaret Series presents TELL ME A STORY: ‘TIS THE SEASON on December 9 and 10 at 8pm in the Arden’s 100-seat Studio Theatre at the Hamilton Family Arts Center, 62 N. 2nd Street in Old City, Philadelphia.
In TELL ME A STORY: ‘TIS THE SEASON, Arden artists that include favorites like Jen Childs and Bi Jean Ngo, will share tales and memories inspired by the holidays and underscored by music that will include traditional holiday carols as well as other styles.
Curator and host, Hillary Rea, is an award-winning storyteller and founder of Tell Me A Story. She will work with the performers (listed below), coaching them to tell personal stories from their own lives and experiences that center around the holidays. Rea is a New York City Moth storyslam winner and performs and teaches locally.
Arden Associate Artistic Director, Matthew Decker, says “We are thrilled that Hillary is bringing her work with Tell Me A Story here to the Arden to work with our artists. She specializes in helping artists find an authentic voice, and creates a special feeling in the room. It’s exciting when you watch an artist being truthful and Hillary is an expert at bringing that out of people. A great example of this kind of work in action is Garrison Keillor or This American Life’s Ira Glass.”
He adds, “Whereas traditional cabarets are a selection of songs with a bit of banter, this evening is more storytelling with a few songs and carols and musical underscoring. We still accomplish our goal of offering a unique and intimate conversation with Arden artists, and to see a side to them we perhaps have not seen before.”
