Play Practice
For Grades K-5
Get ready to take the stage! In this camp, students will work with a theatre director to rehearse and perform a scripted play by the end of the week. Students will learn the fundamentals of blocking, character development, and what it means to rehearse a play.
Students will:
- Learn how a rehearsal process works
- Practice character development and stage presence
- Build collaboration and focus
Musical Theatre Revue
For Grades 6-8
In this engaging studio, students will create their own original musical using their favorite Broadway hits. Throughout the week, they will create dynamic characters and practice supporting their voice while conveying stories through choreography. The studio will culminate in a performance for friends and family on the Studio Theatre stage.
Students will:
- Practice vocal technique while working on songs from a broad range of classic and contemporary Broadway songs
- Develop as musical theatre performers while working with complex choreography
- Build confidence and self-awareness
Play-in-a-Day
Play-in-a-Day
In these award-winning classes, students work together to create an original play. Each Play-in-a-Day is as unique as the participants – the story and characters are always new!
Students will:
- Practice collaboration
- Learn the basic elements of a good story
- Create compelling characters using their voice, body, and imagination
All Play in a Days are for Grades K-5 and are held from 9am-5pm* for $85 per session.

Bookworms

Each week in Bookworms, we’ll read a different book together and use theatre games, music, and creative movement to bring the story to life! Parents, Grandparents, and caregivers are all invited, but not required, to participate. Selected books range from classics to popular new picture books, all exploring themes of kindness, community, collaboration, and celebrating being uniquely YOU!
Students will:
- Strengthen early literacy skills by actively listening to and engaging with a new story each week
- Explore creative movement and imagination
- Grow social-emotional skills like kindness, self-regulation, and confidence

The battle of good vs evil is on as students sing and dance as their favorite heroes and villains! In this class, students will learn how to portray unique characters while singing and dancing together as a group.

This exploration centered class introduces students to the actor’s tools of voice, imagination, and body to create characters and portray emotions. In this playful class, students jump into the world of comedic performance. From classic comedy bits to creating their own hilarious scenes, students will develop their comic instincts while practicing listening, timing, and teamwork.

- Learn the basics of comedic timing, physical comedy, and improvisation

Musical Theatre: Storytellers Edition

Students will explore the magic of Broadway by creating their own original musical theatre production, using iconic songs from the Broadway canon. Students will dive into the art of musical storytelling by selecting songs that reflect key moments in their story and developing characters, choreography, and scenes that bring the songs to life. This class is perfect for young performers who love to sing, act, and dance while collaborating to create a one-of-a-kind performance!

- Learn how to integrate music, movement, and dialogue into a cohesive performance
- Develop characters and scenes that showcase their creativity and ensemble work

Students learn to take the spotlight in this solo performance focused class. A musical theatre professional will help students select songs that showcase their vocal range and character type. They will practice the basics of vocal technique to support their voices and gain confidence singing on their own while portraying character through song.
Students will:
- Practice basic vocal technique to support and strengthen their voice
- Learn how to portray story and character through song
- Gain confidence singing solo

Actor’s Workshop: Improv and Sketch

In this fun and energetic class, students play improv games, practice quick thinking, and collaborate on writing and performing their own comedic sketches. The class emphasizes creativity, spontaneity, and teamwork!
Students will:
- Build improvisation skills and learn to think on your feet.
- Explore basic comedic timing and physical comedy techniques.
- Write and perform original sketch comedy in a group setting.
- Develop confidence and comfort in unscripted performance situations.

Musical Theatre: Song Styles

In this class, students explore different styles of musical theatre, from classical Broadway to contemporary hits. As they work on different performance techniques specific to each style, they’ll learning how to adapt their voices and acting to match. The final performance is a selection of songs across various genres and periods of the musical theatre cannon!

- Understand and perform songs in various musical theatre styles (e.g., classic Broadway, pop musicals, etc.).
- Experiment with different vocal techniques and character choices for each style
- Gain confidence and self-awareness

Acting Lab: Acting with Style

Students will explore classical acting techniques as they work on famous scenes from ancient Greek theatre, Shakespeare, comedy of manners, and beyond. Guided by a theatre professional students will learn how to analyze a classical text and develop compelling characters for a modern audience. Students receive a complimentary ticket to Teen Night for Romeo and Juliet.
Students will:
- Practice the techniques associated with different types of classical theatre
- Explore how to make these stories relevant to a modern audience
- Develop more confidence and skill as a performer

Join us for an end of the year celebration! Led by professional theatre directors, students will create solo, duet, and group cabaret acts. They’ll perform for friends and family on the last day of the semester.

This character-building class invites students to dive deep into the process of creating original characters. With creative acting exercises and games, students will learn how to develop characters that are engaging and complex. Students create and perform short scenes in character, gaining insight into storytelling through the lens of character development.

In this collaborative class, students will learn the techniques to take a scene from the page to the stage. Through script analysis and partner exercises, students will discover how to use objectives, tactics, and beats to bring energy to a scene. Students will work together on classic and contemporary scripts as they explore dynamic staging choices.

Acting Lab: The Creative Performer
January 10 – February 28, 2026
Inspired by the new work the Arden debuts on its stages each season, this class will challenge young artists and actors to develop and perform new plays using various devising techniques. Guided by a professional director, students will explore dynamic theatrical movement exercises, advanced text analysis, and collaborative theatre making. Students will collaborate on devising a new theatre piece that explores topics that are meaningful to them that they will perform after the final rehearsal. Students receive a complimentary ticket to Teen Night for Good Bones, a new play by Pulitzer Prize winner James Ijames.

There’s a lot more to musical theatre than singing and dancing and this advanced class will immerse students in the skills needed to be considered a ‘triple threat.” Guided by musical theatre professionals, students will explore the character and story development techniques that take a scene into song. Students will strengthen their vocal technique and practice dynamic movement as they dive deeper into the musical theatre rehearsal process.

Comedy Camp: Improv!

Students think on their feet as they practice short and long form improv exercises. Camp culminates in an improv comedy show for friends and family.

Musical Theatre Camp: Broadway Bound

5, 6, 7, 8! Students will feel like musical theatre stars as they work on songs and choreography from their favorite Broadway shows in this classic week of Arden Summer Camp. Throughout the week, musical theatre professionals will teach students how to boldly take the stage and connect story to lyrics.

Comedy Camp: Sketch
August 3-7 (One Week Camp)
Students imagine silly characters and create hilarious original scenes as they practice various sketch writing and performance skills.

Musical Theatre Camp: Showstoppers!

And the crowd goes wild! In this exciting camp, students will learn the basics of vocal support and high-energy choreography that are essential to their favorite show-stopping musical numbers. Throughout the week, musical theatre professionals will teach students how to boldly take the stage and connect story to lyrics.

Play Practice
August 24-28 (One Week Camp)
Get ready to take the stage! In this camp, students will work with a theatre director to rehearse and perform a scripted play by the end of the week. Students will learn the fundamentals of blocking, character development, and what it means to rehearse a play.

Acting Studio: From Page to Stage
July 6-17 (Two Week Studio)
In this thoughtful two-week studio experience, students will develop as actors and performers through devising, scene study, and performance. In their first week, students will practice a variety advanced character development techniques. In the second week, the students will apply what they learned in the first week to monologues and scenes that they will present to family and friends on the Arden mainstage.

Comedy Studio: Friday Afternoon Live!
July 20-24 (One Week Studio)
It’s Friday Afternoon Live! In this comical studio, quick-witted students will learn to create humorous characters and riotous scenes. Led by theatre professionals, students will work together to create sketches and stand-up routines that they’ll share with friends and family on the Arden mainstage.

Musical Theatre Studio: Dancing Through Life
July 27-August 7 (Two Week Studio)
In this toe-tapping studio, students will develop as musical theatre performers through solos, duets, and group numbers. Working with a classic and contemporary Broadway repertoire, students will practice supporting their voice while conveying story through choreography. The studio will culminate in a revue style showcase for friends and family on the Arden mainstage.

Shakespeare Studio
August 10-14 (One Week Studio)
Double double toil and trouble….student actors conjure theatre magic in this Shakespearean studio. Led by a classical acting professional, students will explore how to interpret Shakespeare’s text for a modern audience. They will put classical acting techniques into practice as they rehearse and perform a cut of one of Shakespeare’s iconic plays on the Arden mainstage.

Design Studio: Behind the Scenes
August 17-21 (One Week Studio)
In this hands-on class, students explore the world of theatrical design, focusing on set, costume, prop, and lighting design. Through practical exercises and creative projects, they will learn how design elements contribute to storytelling on stage and discover the basics of the technical side of theatre.

In this creative masterclass, students will learn the foundations of stage make-up. They will learn how to create a variety of different looks from classic to aging to animalistic. A sanitary make-up kit will be provided to students to work with but they are welcome to bring their own if they have one!
Students will:
- Learn the foundations for creating different make-up looks for the stage
- Express their creativity through original character make-up designs
- Practice giving constructive feedback

Stage Combat

In this energetic class, students learn the basics of stage combat. They’ll practice the mechanics of several hand-to-hand moves and work with knife and dagger. Guided by an actor combatant they’ll work collaboratively to create fight choreography for a scene that builds tension and drama.

Audition Technique
Friday, June 26
Get audition-ready with confidence and polish in this one day masterclass. Whether you’re new to auditioning or ready to refine your material, this class offers practical tools, individual coaching, and real-world audition practice.
Each student will bring a prepared one-minute monologue and 16–32 bar musical theatre cut. Under the guidance of a professional teaching artist, students will workshop their pieces, gain insight into audition best practices, and leave with a stronger understanding of how to make bold, authentic choices under pressure.
Students will:
- Strengthen performance skills by refining a monologue and a musical theatre song for audition
- Learn audition room etiquette and best practices to present yourself professionally and authentically
- Build confidence under pressure through supportive mock audition experience

Scene into Song

There’s a lot more to musical theatre than singing and dancing and this advanced class will immerse students in the skills needed to be considered a ‘triple threat.” Guided by musical theatre professionals, students will explore the character and story development techniques that take a scene into song. Students will strengthen their vocal technique and practice dynamic movement as they dive deeper into the musical theatre rehearsal process.
Students will:
- Learn advanced techniques to portray character and story through singing and movement
- Explore the storytelling strategies that make musical theatre unique
- Build confidence and stage presence

Musical Conservatory: Into the Woods
July 13-August 7
Three Week Camp: $1,450
Performances: August 3-6 at 7:00pm
In this unforgettable experience, students will work together to audition, rehearse, and perform Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway classic, Into the Woods. Led by musical theatre professionals, students will learn to apply advanced vocal, physical, and acting techniques to performance on the Arden’s mainstage.

Acting Conservatory: One Act Festival
August 10-21
Two-Week Camp: $800
In this two week intensive, students will advance their skills as actors in the rehearsal and performance of a One Act Festival. Guided by a theatre professional, students will practice advanced performance techniques and apply them directly to the rehearsal process. They will learn how to develop complex characters, build dramatic tension in staging, and take the stage with presence and individuality.
Students will:
- Collaborate on the rehearsal and production of a One Act Festival
- Develop their stage presence as actors and their points of view as artists
- Apply advanced character development and scene study techniques to performance

PLEASE NOTE: Included in the cost of your camp is a $100 non-refundable deposit. If you need to cancel enrollment, you must notify us in writing no later than June 1, 2026 in order to receive a refund. Requests should be emailed to boxofficer@ardentheatre.org. No refunds or exchanges can be made after June 1, 2026. The $100 deposit will be deducted from any cancellations. Changes to enrolled weeks are based on availability and must also be made on or before the June 1, 2026 deadline. By enrolling in Arden Drama School, you are hereby allowing Arden Theatre Company to use images and video footage of your child for marketing materials.
