LORENE CARY, Master Storyteller Award recipient, Philadelphia author whose books include The Price of a Child (the first One Book One Philadelphia), If Sons, Then Heirs, and the best-selling memoir Black Ice. Her theatrical work includes My General Tubman and an upcoming stage adaptation of Ladysitting: My Year with Nana at the End of Her Century. Librettos include The Gospel According to Nana, and forthcoming: Jubilee, with composer Damien Geter for Portland Opera Company (OR). She teaches writing at UPenn and founded #VoteThatJawn and Art Sanctuary.
