On the last day, students perform on stage for friends and family in the Arden’s Bob and Selma Horan Studio Theatre.

PLAY IN A DAY (for Grades K-5)

In the Arden’s award-winning classes (Philadelphia Magazine’s Best of Philly: Kids Classes), students work together to create an original play. Each Play-in-a-Day is as unique as the participants, so take one or all of them—the story and characters are always new!

All Play in a Days are for Grades K-5 and are held from 9am-5pm for $80. Register with the links below:

BOOKWORMS (for ages 2-5 and their caregivers)

In Bookworms, we use theatre games, music, and creative movement to bring a story to life! Parents, grandparents, and caregivers are all invited, but not required, to participate.

All Bookworms are for kids ages 2-5 and are held from 10am to 10:45am. Drop-in for $18 per child/take all 6 classes for $85 (save over 20%!):

MUSICAL THEATRE K-2

Using beloved music from Disney and Broadway classics, participants learn to sing and use movement to bring a song to life.

Saturdays, 10am – 11:30am
Grades:  K – 2

Participants learn the basics of acting and storytelling through up-on-your-feet ensemble exercises that activate their actor tools.

ACTING 3-5

Students use scripts to learn the fundamental skills of acting with a special focus on using their bodies, voices, and imaginations.

Students learn the fundamentals of musical theatre by performing group songs, complete with choreography, from Broadway and Disney.

ACTING 6-8: FUNDAMENTALS

Students learn a variety of acting techniques through character and movement exercises, as well as collaboration on scene work.

Saturdays, 3pm – 5pm
Age: Grades 6 – 8

MUSICAL THEATRE 6-8: FUNDAMENTALS

A music director guides students through the process of learning a new song and making decisions to project character and point of view. Young performers gain confidence singing in front of an audience as they learn key vocal techniques used by professional artists.

MIDDLE SCHOOL WORKSHOPS FOR GRADES 6-8

Comedy Master Class

A comprehensive workshop where students will work with a theatre professional to sharpen their comedic skills in scene work, sketch comedy, and improv.

Musical Revue Workshop

Students will work with a music director on hit songs from popular Broadway musicals, culminating in a revue-style performance for family and friends at 4 pm.

ACTING: PROCESS & PERFORMANCE

Students use scenes and monologues from classic and contemporary work to explore acting objectives and physical and vocal techniques to bring a character to life. They’ll learn how to analyze a scene, tools for memorization, and the vocabulary of a stage actor
