Arden Theatre Company is an EOE/AA employer and values diversity in the workplace.
Arden Theatre Company is seeking submissions from local, non-AEA artists to understudy roles for their upcoming productions for the remainder of the season. With the exception of TYA shows, EMC points are available. Those interested should submit their headshot and resume to Mariah Ghant, Artistic Assistant, at email@example.com.
Arden Understudy Process: Understudies are invited to attend as many of the main cast rehearsals as possible. They have at least five rehearsals on their own with the Assistant Director, culminating in a fully-teched run through of the show for family and friends (attended by Arden’s artistic staff) soon after opening. Once the show opens, we encourage understudies to attend one performance a week to keep the lines, music, and staging fresh, and they will be paid $50 for every performance that they are called on. During the entire run of the show, understudies must be within one hour of the theatre.
Arden Theatre Company operates under a LORT-C agreement (Haas Stage), LORT-D agreement (Arcadia Stage), and TYA agreement (Arden Children’s Theatre) with Actors’ Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States. In accordance with these agreements, we hold multiple open call auditions each year, both in Philadelphia and New York. Information about these auditions will be made available on this page.
Arden casting representatives also attend the Greater Philadelphia Annual Auditions, hosted each year by the Walnut Street Theatre.
Auditions are held throughout the year, by invitation only. If you are unable to attend an open call and wish to be kept on file, please mail a headshot and resume to:
